About Jorge Alís
Jorge Alís learned his craft on the streets of Buenos Aires. At 18 he began studying theatre, circus and tango, and he performed all of it in public spaces in the city. In 1997 he moved to Santiago, where he first presented evenings that mixed tango with humour, and by 2004 he was doing live comedy in bars and entertainment venues.
The Festival de Viña del Mar gave his career its momentum. After his first appearance there in 2014 he returned in 2019 with a routine about immigration, family life and communication in the digital age, which was well received by critics.
Acting has run alongside the comedy. His screen credits include the films Play, La buena vida and 03:34 Terremoto en Chile, the series Huaiquimán y Tolosa, La colonia and Prófugos, and the telenovelas Porky te amo and Vivir con 10, and he played the lead in the film ¿Quién tiene la culpa?!
