About Kristof Micholt
Kristof Micholt, known on stage as El Belga Kristof, is a Belgian-born stand-up comedian who has built his career in Argentina. He was born on July 6, 1979, in Bruges, Belgium, and moved to Buenos Aires in 2002 for a law-school exchange program at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Although he completed his law degree, he found he preferred making people laugh to practicing law, and in 2009 he began performing stand-up comedy in Buenos Aires, becoming known as the first Belgian to perform stand-up in Spanish. He has toured his comedy through the United States, England, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, and in Argentina he twice appeared on the television program Bendita TV, took part in the Ciudad Emergente festival, recorded material for Comedy Central and won his category at Argentina's National Stand-Up Competition. His long-running solo show, "Un Belga en Argentina," marked ten years of his career, and he later created the two-hander "¡Sí, mi amor! Stand Up de pareja" with comedian Marina Tanzer. In 2018 he opened his own venue, Stand Up Club, on Paraná street in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, where he produces shows and teaches comedy classes. He has also written several books on comedy craft and his adopted country, including "Manual de Stand Up" and "Un belga en Argentina."
