Diogo Portugal
About Diogo Portugal
Diogo Portugal is a Brazilian stand-up comedian born on March 8, 1969, in Curitiba, Parana. He is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of stand-up comedy in Brazil, with a career stretching back to 1996 when he took part in the first Multishow Prize for Brazilian Humor. Over three decades he built a reputation as one of the most versatile performers in Brazilian comedy, combining stand-up, character work, and interactive formats into a signature style that influenced an entire generation of comedians.
Diogo Portugal founded the Risorama festival - the most traditional humor festival in Latin America, held in a scenographic bar format that recreates the atmosphere of a classic American comedy club. In 2006, he joined Clube da Comedia Stand-Up, the defining group of the genre in Brazil, before embarking on a solo career. He created and hosts Fritada, a Brazilian roast show inspired by the American Roast format, in which a nationally known celebrity faces a panel of six comedians delivering sharp, uncensored jokes - the show became a hit on the Multishow channel. He has also co-hosted the talk show Luciana by Night. His comedy style mixes stand-up with interactive elements and vivid character performances, going consistently against political correctness.
Diogo Portugal tours Brazil consistently with live shows, including his current program Improprios para Politicos. He has also taken his comedy to Portuguese-speaking audiences in Portugal, performing in Lisbon and Porto in 2025, making him one of the Brazilian stand-up acts with a regular international touring presence. His stand-up material, including full show recordings, is available on his YouTube channel with over 700K subscribers.
