About Patrick Maia

Maia trained as a copywriter, took an advertising degree in Sao Paulo and worked in agencies before his first stand-up spot in 2009, in a bar in Sao Bernardo do Campo. The writing came with him: in 2010 Danilo Gentili asked him to co-write the script for his stand-up DVD Politicamente Incorreto, and a year later Maia joined the Clube da Comedia Stand-Up after an open mic and became a writer on the late night programme Agora E Tarde.

Presenting followed, on RedeTV! and then on MTV Brasil, and he spent a stretch on Panico na Band. His own material sits on the DVDs Piadas para Pessoas, Partiu Stand Up and Home Office, which he wrote and directed, and he has run the podcast Porcos Voam.

Music is the other half of the work. He has played drums since childhood and in 2012 founded The Dollar Bills, a soul and rhythm and blues band that recorded the soundtrack for his Partiu Stand Up project.
