Tatá Mendonça

Tata Mendonca is a Brazilian stand-up comedian born in Guarulhos, known by the stage name "A Cega na Comedia" (The Blind Woman in Comedy). She lost her eyesight at age 17 due to an autoimmune disease. Before turning to comedy, she built a corporate career as a diversity and inclusion manager at companies including Serasa Experian and HP, and competed as a Paralympic athlete, winning more than 50 medals in futsal and goalball, including a Brazilian national goalball title in 2017. Mendonca holds a degree in public relations and began her stand-up career in 2022, billed as the first Black blind woman in Brazilian stand-up comedy. Her material covers visual impairment, relationships, motherhood and everyday ableism, delivered with a light comedic touch. Her solo show, launched in 2023, has sold out theaters nationally, and she has built an online following of more than 610,000 on Instagram. She is a single mother of two children and has spoken out publicly after experiencing sexual harassment from an audience member during a show in Sao Paulo.
