Ashwyn Singh
About Ashwyn Singh
Ashwyn Singh (born c. 1996) is a Canadian stand-up comedian, writer and musician. He was born in New Delhi, India, and moved to Canada in 2014 at the age of 19 to study computer science at the University of Waterloo. After graduating and working in the technology industry, he left a corporate career to pursue comedy full time, and is based in Toronto.
Singh's act combines scripted stand-up with crowdwork, and his material draws on his experience as an immigrant to address subjects such as cultural identity, religion, politics and social hypocrisy. He also produces the online series "Desi Translations," which reinterprets English phrases through Hindi and Urdu lyrics and has accumulated tens of millions of views.
He has appeared on Canada's Got Talent and CBC's The Debaters, and has performed at Canadian comedy festivals including Winnipeg and Halifax. He has opened for comedians such as Mark Normand, Sammy Obeid and Zarna Garg. In May 2026 he staged an expanded show, "Wrong Singh to Say," at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto.
