Bernardita Ruffinelli

Bernardita Ruffinelli is a Chilean comedian and writer, a journalism graduate of Universidad de La Frontera in her native Temuco. After working in regional media and later as a communicator in Santiago, she moved into comedy, debuting with her own stand-up show in Temuco in December 2014. She went on to co-star in "Control de Esfínter" with Mauricio Acuña, considered the first stand-up improvisation show staged in Chile, and built a touring solo stand-up career that has taken her across the country and abroad. Ruffinelli is one of the founders of Manzanas de Eva, an international collective that supports and promotes comedy made by women across Latin America, and she created and hosts "La Fábrica de Salchichas", a curated open-mic night where professional comedians try out new material, a format later franchised to Peru. She also created "Comedia Hereje", an annual Good Friday show in which comedians joke about religion, and "El Show del Heckler", held every 30 December, in which the audience and fellow comedians are invited to heckle the year's final performance. As a writer, she co-wrote the Chilevisión program "Minas al Poder" for the Olmué, Viña del Mar and Dichato festivals.
