About Huaso Filomeno
Huaso Filomeno is the stage name of Roger Alexis Jara Norambuena, a humorist from Victoria, Chile. His character is modelled on the classic southern Chilean huaso, and his comedy leans on cheeky humour, rural anecdotes, and music that captures the flavour of Chilean country life.
Jara built the persona by drawing on two earlier comic figures, El Clavel by Ernesto Cancino and Carmelo by Daniel Muรฑoz, as well as memories of his own grandfather. The costume he wears is based on the overalls that railway workers once used for shovelling coal.
