About Marcelo Valverde
Marcelo Valverde, known on stage as Coronel Valverde, is a Chilean stand-up comedian born in Arica and trained as a psychologist at the Universidad de Tarapaca. He began doing radio in Arica around age 14 and later started performing comedy in his hometown at a literary cafe called Colibri. In December 2016 he moved to Santiago, determined to make a living from comedy rather than psychology, and in early 2017 comedian Fabrizio Copano invited him to start a podcast that changed the course of his career. Valverde now co-hosts El Sentido del Humor alongside comedians Luis Slimming and Hector Romero, one of the most recognized comedy projects in Chile, and has appeared on the Canal 13 program El Desestrece. In 2024 he marked ten years in comedy with his solo stand-up show Livianito, performed at Teatro Nescafe de las Artes, and the same year he took the stage at the Festival del Huaso de Olmue. He has toured performing his stand-up act in Quilpue, Valparaiso, Buenos Aires and at Casino Enjoy venues.
