About Ángela Ñungo
Angela Nungo is a Colombian comedian, journalist and cultural manager from Medellin. Trained as a social communicator, she moved into comedy after competing on Colombia Rie, the country's first humor-focused reality competition created by television producer Fernando Gaitan, where she developed scripts in the stand-up format. She went on to found Global Comedia, a talent agency and platform for emerging comedians, and in 2020 she created MEC Fest, short for Mujeres, Escena y Comedia, described as the only international festival for women comedians and diverse communities in South America.
As a performer she co-created and stars in Planchando Tusas alongside comedian Hernan Cordoba, a fast-paced stand-up show that traces the stages of a romantic relationship through comedy and ironing-themed songs, and she created En Que Idioma Le Tengo Que Hablar, billed as the first Colombian stand-up comedy show about deaf people, performed for both deaf and hearing audiences. She remains a key organizer and performer in Medellin's growing women-led comedy scene.
