About Alexis Valdés
Alexis Valdes was born on August 16, 1963, in Havana, Cuba. A comedian, actor, monologuist, singer, playwright and film producer, he trained as an engineer at the Instituto Politecnico Jose Antonio Echeverria in Havana before pursuing a career in entertainment. He rose to prominence in Cuba during the 1980s playing the character Bandurria in the television series Los pequenos fugitivos. In 1991 Valdes moved to Spain, where he gained wide popularity performing on the television program El Club de la Comedia. In 2005 he wrote, directed, produced and starred in his first film, Un Rey en La Habana. Valdes later relocated to Miami, where he hosted the comedy program Seguro Que Yes on AmericaTeVe until 2007, after which the show continued on Mega TV under the title Esta Noche Tu Night. He has toured solo stand-up shows including Los hombres si lloran and La risa que te debo, performing at venues such as the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
