About Petr Vydra
Petr Vydra (born 6 January 1972 in Turnov) is a Czech writer, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, dramaturg, presenter, and film and theatre actor. He was born in Turnov. In 1995 he graduated in acting from DAMU in Prague, and in 2002 he also completed a degree in dramaturgy there. As an actor he was engaged at the Mestske divadlo in Mlada Boleslav, and after completing civilian military service at the Divadlo F. X. Saldy in Liberec. Between 2000 and 2001 he worked as an actor and author at Dejvicke divadlo, where he contributed to the preparation of the composed programs Trapne vecery.
Since 1995 he has worked as a teaching assistant at the Katedra autorske tvorby a pedagogiky at DAMU. In 2002 he began working as a presenter and dramaturg at radio Classic FM. From 2006 he began appearing in the HBO television channel program Na Stojaka, one of the first Czech television programs presenting performances of this genre, alongside figures such as Ester Kocickova, Lukas Pavlasek, Tomas Hanak, Daniel Cech, Iva Pazderkova and Karel Hynek. As a stand-up comedian he performs in live productions, including through Na Stojaka s. r. o., and he repeatedly appears in the program Comedy Club on Paramount Network.
He is also the author of several humorous books. In the municipal elections of 2014 he was listed on the candidate list of the Czech Pirate Party in Turnov. His acting filmography includes Malostranske humoresky (1995), Navrat idiota (1999), Padesatka (2015), Troji zivot (2018), Pres prsty (2019) and Mstitel (2021). His books include Komici s.r.o.
