About Reem Nabil
Reem Nabil is described by Egypt Today as Egypt's first female stand-up comedian. A graduate in mass communication and journalism, she was known from a young age for impersonating friends and teachers, and discovered stand-up as an art form after being inspired by the political satirist Bassem Youssef, whose popularity grew after Egypt's 2011 uprising. She trained at a workshop run by fellow comedian Ali Quandil, graduating among the top three of twenty-five participants, and in 2018 appeared on the Arabic-language version of Comedy Central, filmed in Dubai, as the only Egyptian woman among dozens of male comedians. Nabil later co-founded Comedy Sett, a platform run by and for women in Egyptian stand-up, together with comedians Noha Kato, Bernadette and Sarah Abdel Rahman, and appeared in the pan-Arab stand-up series "Stand Up! Ya Arab!" She posts stand-up material on her own YouTube channel.
