About Joonas Ranta
Joonas Ranta, born in 1984 in Oulu, is a Finnish stand-up comedian, podcast host and screenwriter now based in Helsinki. In 2022 he won the Nopee naurattaja competition for emerging stand-up comedians, and in 2023 he reached the final of the Vuoden stand-up-tulokas newcomer competition.
Ranta produces and hosts the podcast Luomakunta and has worked as a summer and freelance journalist for the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. Between 2014 and 2017 he was one of the writers on the satirical program Uutisraportti. He holds a master's degree in political science and is the younger brother of cartoonist Ville Ranta.
