About Antoine de Caunes
Antoine de Caunes came to comedy by way of music television. He created and hosted Chorus, a programme that championed rock music on public television, and it was Canal+ that made him widely known through Nulle part ailleurs. There he built a gallery of sketch characters, Didier l'embrouille and Ouin-Ouin among them, often playing opposite Jose Garcia.
British viewers met him on Channel 4 as the host of Eurotrash, a humorous entertainment show he first fronted with Jean Paul Gaultier. Before that, his music show Rapido had already been shown in an English-language version on the BBC2 strand DEF II.
Behind the camera he directed Les Morsures de l'aube, Monsieur N. and Desaccord parfait, then Coluche, l'histoire d'un mec, a portrait of the comedian Coluche, and the television film Yann Piat, chronique d'un assassinat. He went back to daily television as host of Le Grand Journal on Canal+, co-hosted Popopop on France Inter radio with Charline Roux, and holds the record for the number of times anyone has presented the Cesar awards ceremony.
