About Cyril Étesse
Cyril Étesse trained in graphic arts and advertising before the stage won out, and his first one-man show, Je ne viens pas d'un boy's band!, dates from 1999. Shaolin? followed in 2007, and much of his theatre work since has been made with the director Anthony Joubert; he has also shared stages with Smaïn and Antony Vincent.
National recognition came through On n'demande qu'à en rire, where between 2012 and 2014 he became a regular. His sketches there leaned on over-excited characters delivered at speed, a style that owes a debt to Louis de Funès, and La chasse aux rats est ouverte was one of his early pieces to earn a very high score.
Later solo shows include Le temps des Monstres and Monolithe, the latter from 2024. On screen he has worked in the series Draculi & Gandolfi, Plus belle la vie and Léo Mattéï, Brigade des mineurs, and in the feature film Monsieur Cauchemar.
