Farid Chamekh
About Farid Chamekh
Farid Chamekh reached comedy by way of movement. He danced and practised capoeira before he took any acting classes, and only then went looking for formal training. In 2005 he joined the atelier of the Centre Dramatique in Saint-Étienne, his home city, spent four years with the humour theatre troupe of Marc Feuillet, and later studied with Hélène Zidi at the Laboratoire de l'acteur.
In 2007 he moved to Paris, where he played the café-théâtres and appeared in the play Couscous aux lardons. A television appearance followed in 2012 with an episode of Bref. From 2014 to 2020 he belonged to the troupe of the Jamel Comedy Club, and Jamel Debbouze chose him as an opening act. He performed at Marrakech du rire in 2018, a show broadcast on M6, and in 2021 he became master of ceremonies for the touring Jamel Comedy Club shows in North America, the Caribbean and the French Pacific territories.
His own shows mark the stages of that road: Farid & Chamekh in 2017, Lancement imminent in 2019, and Génération Z, which he performed at the Apollo Théâtre.
