About Guy Montagné

Guy Montagné, born in Paris in 1948, trained at the Cours René Simon and left it in 1972 with the Marcel-Achard prize. His early screen work included the part of Inspector Guyomard in the series Commissaire Moulin, but radio is where his comic reputation took shape.

In 1978 Stéphane Collaro hired him to do impressions and write comic texts for his programme on Europe 1. An impression of the historian Alain Decaux made him widely popular, and he also invented the character of General Buzard. Philippe Bouvard brought him onto Les Grosses Têtes in 1988, first on RTL and then on TF1, and he remained one of the show's mainstays for well over a decade.

In 1985 he was the French voice of Donald Duck in Le Disney Channel on FR3 and acted in Patrick Schulmann's film P.R.O.F.S. His solo stage career opened with Si c'est pas Montagné, j'en veux pas in 1992, and by 2004 he had followed it with nine more one-man shows in Paris houses such as the Théâtre Grévin, the Théâtre du Gymnase and the Palais des Glaces.
