About Philippe Chevallier (humoriste)

For more than three decades Philippe Chevallier has been one half of Chevallier et Laspalès. Before comedy he spent four years studying law and earned a certificate in criminology. He and Régis Laspalès met in 1980, both having passed through the Cours Simon drama school, and a year later they opened their first show together, Pas de fantaisie dans l'orangeade, at the Théâtre d'Edgar.

Philippe Bouvard spotted the pair in 1982 and put them on Le Théâtre de Bouvard on Antenne 2, which gave the duo its television start. Their sketch shows were recorded under titles such as Bien dégagé autour des oreilles..., C'est vous qui voyez! and Vous reprendrez bien quelques sketches?, and sketches like Le Train pour Pau and La Réception d'hôtel became their best-known pieces. In 1999 the duo received the SACEM humour prize.

Away from the double act, Chevallier was a regular panellist of Les Grosses Têtes on RTL from 2001 to 2014, then worked on Allô Bouvard, and from 2016 took part in La Revue de presse on Paris Première. Besides the film Ma femme s'appelle Maurice he appeared in Brèves de comptoir, and on stage he acted in Le Dîner de cons and Le Sommelier.
