Thomas Ngijol

Thomas Ngijol is a French stand-up comedian, actor, and filmmaker of Cameroonian origin, born on 30 October 1978 in Paris. He grew up in Maisons-Alfort in the Val-de-Marne suburbs of the French capital. His father is a Cameroonian sociologist and his mother a nurse. He broke through as a stand-up comedian in 2006 at the Jamel Comedy Club and has since become one of the most respected voices in French comedy, known for combining personal storytelling with incisive social commentary.

Ngijol rose to prominence through the Jamel Comedy Club in 2006, the influential French comedy showcase run by Jamel Debbouze. In 2008 he hosted a daily segment on Canal+'s flagship show "Le Grand Journal". His solo show "Le Comte de Bouderbala" garnered widespread acclaim for its blend of humor and sharp reflections on race, identity, and modern French life. In 2011 he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the film "Case Depart", a comedy tackling slavery that became a major commercial success in France. His Canal+ special "L'Oeil du Tigre" (2023), directed by his wife actress Karole Rocher, offers a post-Covid reckoning that addresses police violence, racism, sexism, and family life as a father in an all-female household. The show toured France from 2021 through early 2024, including dates at the Grand Rex and the Olympia.

Thomas Ngijol is preparing a new stand-up show titled "L'Experience Prouve" for 2025-2026, described as a more intimate format blending introspection with incisive social humor. His Canal+ special "L'Oeil du Tigre" (2023) is available to stream on Canal+. He has also performed at the Olympia in Montreal.
