Xrysa Katsarini

Xrysa Katsarini reached stand-up through drama school. After finishing school in Kavala, where she was born in 1986, she moved to Thessaloniki, took a degree in food science and dietetics and at the same time graduated from the drama school of Andreas Voutsinas, on a scholarship he granted her himself. Stand-up was the path she chose after that.

She settled in Athens in 2012, worked alongside other Greek comedians and put together her first solo piece. In 2013 she did guest spots at the Comedy Cellar in Ireland and at several London clubs, and from 2014 she was a member of the Gazi comedy club until it closed in 2017.

Her first full solo stand-up show opened at the Avaton Theatre in 2018, and that autumn she went on her first European tour, playing Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Berlin and Manchester. In 2019 she opened for the American comedian Liza Treyger, and in 2020 she performed in Cyprus for the first time.

Kouverta, her second solo show, premiered at the Athinais stage in Athens in 2021. In spring 2022 she took it on the road around Greece to more than 30 cities, and in May of that year the tour moved on to 11 cities elsewhere in Europe. Online she has presented several programmes in collaboration with Comedy Lab, among them the interactive show CHIK! and the travel series Vlogarini.
