About Madhur Virli
Madhur Virli is an Indian stand-up comedian, writer and YouTuber based in Delhi. A graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, he began performing at open mics during his college years and won the stand-up category at the Inter-IIT Cultural Meet in 2018, a result widely cited as his early breakthrough. He performs primarily in Hindi and English and later left a conventional engineering path to pursue comedy full time.
His material draws heavily on his engineering background and middle-class upbringing, addressing academic pressure, career expectations, relationships, mental health and mortality. His style is generally described as observational storytelling rooted in personal experience, with a sharp and at times dark edge. Among his best-known works is "The IIT Dream," a special that resonated with engineering aspirants and young professionals.
Virli has released several solo stand-up specials, including "MasterPeace," "Baccha Hota Toh" and "Alter White," distributing his work through his YouTube channel. In 2025 an older clip from one of his sets resurfaced and drew public criticism over jokes referencing sexual violence, generating wider media coverage of the comedian.
