Madurai Muthu

Madurai Muthu is an Indian Tamil stand-up comedian closely associated with the city of Madurai. He rose to prominence through Sun TV's reality program Asatha Povadhu Yaaru, a show credited with bringing organised stand-up comedy to Tamil television, where his on-stage partnership with fellow comedian Kovai Guna won him a devoted following. Muthu is best known for a distinctive prop-based comedy style, building jokes around everyday tools and household objects rather than relying only on verbal wit. Building on that television breakthrough, he went on to serve as a judge on the competitive comedy shows Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? and its spin-off Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? Champions, as well as on Comedy Raja Kalakkal Rani. He is also a cast member of the popular cooking-and-comedy series Cooku with Comali, appearing in seasons 2, 3 and 5. Alongside his television work, Muthu maintains an active YouTube channel, Madurai Muthu Alaparai, posting stand-up bits, vlogs and footage from his stage tours, and he has taken supporting roles in several Tamil films since 2012.
