About Pavitra Shetty
Pavitra Shetty is an Indian stand-up comedian and writer based in Mumbai who performs primarily in English. She trained in biomedical engineering before moving into an information technology career, which she pursued alongside stand-up comedy for several years. After about seven years in IT, she left the corporate world to focus on comedy full time, citing missed creative opportunities as a turning point. Her material draws on relationship stories and everyday anecdotes, often centered on her family, particularly her mother, delivered with a mix of sarcasm and warmth. Shetty has built a following performing at comedy clubs, festivals, and corporate shows across India, and is part of a comedy duo called The Sidechicks. Her television and streaming credits include One Mic Stand (2019), Amazon Funnies: 10 Minute Stand-ups (2020), and Comicstaan (2022). In a TEDx talk titled 'Women in Standup Comedy', she spoke about her own path into the profession and the challenges facing women in Indian comedy.
