He was born and raised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to a Rajasthani Muslim family of classical musicians, and is the grandson of Sarangi Maestro Ustad Moinuddin Khan. He holds a diploma in Sitar and is a college dropout, and has stated that had he not become a stand-up comedian he would be working as a music teacher.
