About Annie Yang
Annie Yang, born Annie Mariani on October 8, 1996, in Jakarta, is an Indonesian stand-up comedian who has lived in Taiwan and Bali. She began performing stand-up while in Taiwan before joining the Bali Comedy Club community in 2021, becoming a Bali-based comic known for dark, sharp and unapologetic material. In 2022 she became the sole female finalist of Stand Up Comedy Indonesia (SUCI) season 10 on Kompas TV, delivering sets in English that tackled minority experience and the stigma faced by women, earning her a reputation among fans as a "naughty girl" for pushing the audience and judges with risque material. She withdrew from the competition at the top-six stage after a motorcycle accident in Bali on October 2, 2022, which left her with facial cuts and broken teeth the day after her prior round performance. She has credited judge Raditya Dika with helping improve her writing beyond the show, and continues to perform stand-up in English on the Indonesian comedy circuit.
