Chairul Mukmin

Chairul Mukmin, known professionally as Mukmin, is an Indonesian stand-up comedian and honorary contract teacher (guru honorer) from Ternate, North Maluku. He earned a bachelor's degree in Islamic religious education from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta as part of the 2012 class of the Islamic Education Studies program, and has spent years teaching in Ternate classrooms for a small honorary salary, a background that shapes much of his comedy material about the realities of the Indonesian education system. He developed an interest in stand-up as a student and became active in the Stand Up UMY and Stand Up Indo Jogja communities, auditioning for Stand Up Comedy Indonesia (SUCI) repeatedly from its sixth season onward without success and taking a two-year break from performing before returning to the stage. In June 2026 Mukmin won the twelfth season of SUCI on Kompas TV, delivering a grand-final set at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, that combined humor with social criticism, including of the government's free nutritious meal programme, and personal experience from his life as a teacher.
