Gautama Shindu

Gautama Shindu is an Indonesian stand-up comedian from Jepara, Central Java, born on March 15, 1996. He became interested in stand-up comedy in 2014 after watching a video by fellow Indonesian comedian Raditya Dika, and in 2015 he co-founded the local community Stand Up Indo Jepara. In 2021 he staged his first solo special show, titled "Check Point." Gautama rose to national attention as a finalist and eventual runner-up on Stand Up Comedy Indonesia season 10 (SUCI X) in 2022, losing to Yono Bakrie in the final and earning the nickname "the funny dad from Jepara." His material leans heavily on riddle-style jokes (tebak-tebakan), an approach he adopted because he believed audiences in his hometown of Jepara preferred riddles to technique-driven stand-up; he later turned criticism of this choice into further material during the competition. He is a practicing Muslim.
