Gigi e Ross
About Gigi e Ross
Gigi e Ross are an Italian comic duo formed by Luigi Esposito (Napoli, 19 luglio 1978) and Rosario Morra (Napoli, 13 gennaio 1976). Coming from the Accademia d'arte drammatica del Teatro Bellini in Naples, Esposito and Morra trained individually through numerous theatrical experiences. They were born as a cabaret-theatre duo in 2004, after the breakup of the group I Turbati, with which they won the premio Massimo Troisi 2003. Their career began on the radio: in 2003 they worked at Radio Punto Zero, hosting Zero in condotta, a comic morning show broadcast at the weekend. In 2005 Pippo Pelo called them to his show Pelo e Contropelo on Radio Kiss Kiss, which they co-hosted until 2011.
At Radio Kiss Kiss the two were able to create and experiment with new characters, including their parody of Le Iene, with which they gained notoriety and which led them to take part in the first edition of the comic programme La tintoria on Rai 3. After La tintoria and appearances on Markette on LA7 with Piero Chiambretti, in January 2007 they joined the cast of Zelig Off, where they reprised their parody of Le Iene. In 2007 they won the special Rivelazione award at the first edition of the Radiogrolle, and in September arrived at Zelig. In 2008 they were part of the cast of Mai dire Marted矛, where their celebrated parodies of Tiziano Ferro, the Zero Assoluto and Gigi D'Alessio were born, and that same year they hosted the third edition of the comic programme Made in Sud. In 2010 they joined the cast of Colorado on Italia 1.
On 7 aprile 2016 the film Troppo napoletano was released in cinemas, in which Luigi played Tommaso Orfei and Rosario played Stefano Belli. From 4 ottobre of that year the duo hosted the programme Sbandati on Rai 2. In 2017 they handed over the hosting of Made in Sud to Gigi D'Alessio and hosted, with Alessandro Greco, the new edition of Furore on Rai 2. From 18 novembre to 9 dicembre 2017 they joined Francesca Fialdini in hosting the sixtieth edition of the Zecchino d'Oro and later the sixty-first. On 10 gennaio 2019 their first book, La maledizione dell'Acciaio, conceived by them and written by Oreste Ciccariello, was released. From 29 gennaio 2024 they hosted, together with Elisabetta Gregoraci, the first edition of Mad in Italy, a spin-off of Made in Sud on Rai 2, and in the spring of 2025 they hosted Audiscion, a new prime-time show on Rai 2, again alongside Gregoraci.
