Velia Lalli

Velia Lalli is an Italian stand-up comedian, author and actress from Rome, widely recognised as the first female stand-up comic in Italy. A graduate in Electronic Engineering from Roma Tre who chose comedy over engineering, she made her debut in 2009 with the Satiriasi collective and has since become one of the defining voices of alternative Italian comedy.

Lalli trained at the Palestra dell'Attore and the Accademia del Comico in Rome, then debuted in 2009 with Satiriasi, the comedy revolution group founded by Filippo Giardina. She broke through nationally in 2014 as a writer and performer on Stand Up Comedy on Comedy Central Sky, working on the show for several seasons. In 2017 she joined the cast of Sbandati on Rai 2, hosted by the duo Gigi e Ross, as a recurring guest. She has won the Fringe Festival Award and reached the finals of both the Premio Massimo Troisi and the Festival del Cabaret in Rosa in Turin. Her stand-up drastically innovated the themes and language of Italian female comedy, prompting censorship and criticism in equal measure. Her current solo show Era meglio morire da piccoli has been touring Italian theatres throughout 2025 and 2026.

Velia Lalli is currently touring Italy with Era meglio morire da piccoli, with confirmed dates at Officine Culturali Ergot in Lecce, Capodoglio Murazzi in Turin, Teatro Strada Nuova in Genoa and across the Teatri in Comune circuit in Rome. Tour announcements appear on Instagram @velialalli and the theatres' websites.
