About Stefano Bicocchi

Vito, the stage name of Stefano Bicocchi, is an Italian stand-up comedian, cabaret performer, actor and television host born December 23, 1957 in San Giovanni in Persiceto near Bologna. One of the most recognizable faces of emilian comedy, he is best known for his Padano monologues, his long run on Zelig and his theatrical reinventions of folk heroes like Bertoldo and Don Camillo.

Vito trained at the Teatro Bologna school of Alessandra Galante Garrone and on January 1, 1982 co-founded the legendary ARCI Cesare Pavese circle in Bologna with Gran Pavese Varieta, a cabaret show featuring Patrizio Roversi, Syusy Blady, Luciano Manzalini, Olga Durano and Freak Antoni. He broke through nationally in the late 1980s as a silent presence on cult TV programs Via Teulada 66, Lupo solitario and L'araba fenice, then moved to fully spoken comedy in the 1990s with the touring show Se perdo te. He became a Zelig fixture in the 2000s with his slow, padano monologues built around emilian dialect rhythms and rural archetypes. With the Arena del Sole theater in Bologna he revived the figures of Bertoldo, Bertoldino and Don Camillo for the contemporary stage. From 2013 to 2021 he hosted the cooking show Vito con i suoi on Sky Gambero Rosso Channel with his parents, and in 2022 he returned to the screen with the dramedy La tentazione di esistere, followed by La ricetta della felicita and Cineteca in 2025.

Vito continues to tour Italian theaters with his summer monologue tours and regularly appears at festivals devoted to emilian culture and the Po Valley tradition. His Zelig sketches and television appearances stream across YouTube archives and Mediaset Infinity, while updates on dates and projects are posted on Instagram @vitobicocchi and on his official site vito-stefanobicocchi.it.
