About Fady Kassab
Fady Kassab is a Lebanese-Australian stand-up comedian born in 1976 in Ain el-Delb, a town in the Sidon district of southern Lebanon. He grew up during the Lebanese Civil War before emigrating to Australia, where he settled in Sydney and began a media career hosting an Arabic-language program on SBS Radio. Kassab turned to stand-up comedy and, in 2019, won triple j's RAW Comedy, Australia's largest open-mic comedy competition, following past winners such as Hannah Gadsby and Josh Thomas. His winning set, drawing on childhood memories of growing up in wartime Lebanon, was televised nationally on SBS. As a result of the win, he was flown to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where he was selected for the Best of Edinburgh Showcase and reached the finals of the "So You Think You're Funny" competition. Kassab has since delivered a new full-length show every year, performing at venues including the Sydney Opera House and the Brisbane and Melbourne comedy festivals, blending his Australian life with his Lebanese origins and memories of war. He maintains an official YouTube channel under his own name.
