Kavin Jayaram

Kavin Jayaram, known professionally as Kavin Jay, is a Malaysian stand-up comedian born on 25 February 1980. He graduated from Methodist Boys' School in Kuala Lumpur in 1997 and later from South Tyneside College in Newcastle, England, in 2001, training as a marine engineer. After the death of his only sibling in May 2006, a brother who had long encouraged him to pursue comedy, Kavin committed himself seriously to stand-up, giving his first performance at The Actors Studio that August. His break came in December 2009 as an opening act for Irish comedian Dave Callan at Comedy Club KL's "Wacky X'mas" show, after which he became a regular performer there. He co-founded the comedy group Goodflers with Jason Leong and Rizal Van Geyzel, touring sold-out shows across the Klang Valley, Penang and Hong Kong, and also performed as part of the duo Comedy Cousins with his cousin Andrew Peter Netto. In February 2018 Kavin released his own Netflix stand-up special, "Everybody Calm Down," making him one of the first Malaysians with a solo Netflix comedy special. He previously co-hosted "The REDjam" on Red FM.
