Andrea Lavie

Andrea Lavie Medina is a Mexican stand-up comedian based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where she has pursued a master's degree in Cultural Management and Development at the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseno (CUAAD) of the Universidad de Guadalajara.

Her graduate research on building new audiences for stand-up comedy led her to co-create, with fellow comedian Jorge Andres Sanchez Bautista, known by his stage name Cucuta, the festival Ja-Ja-Jalisco, produced by Mas Comedia and staged on April 19 and 20, 2024, at the Foro de Plaza del Angel in Guadalajara. Lavie performed her own stand-up set on the festival's opening night alongside other local comedians.

In her material she addresses what it means to be a woman in a society she describes as still machista, drawing on how women can be made to feel judged over subjects such as their sexual activity. Beyond Ja-Ja-Jalisco, she has worked on plans for a related university-based comedy festival, UdeG Rie, aimed at building new stand-up audiences on campus.
