About Chema Flores
Chema Flores, born Jose Maria Flores Yam in Merida, Yucatan, is a Mexican stand-up comedian who performs under the name Chema De Pie. He was born with myelomeningocele, a spinal condition that can affect motor ability, and competed as a paralympic sprinter for Yucatan during high school before turning his disability into comic material. Over roughly six years of performing, his spontaneity, improvisational skill and direct, irreverent style built him a following on social media, with some of his videos reaching a million views, and helped establish his name in Yucatan's stand-up scene. His comedy turns everyday anecdotes into material about empathy and disability without losing its edge. In January 2026 he was a finalist on Amazon Prime Video's talent competition LOL: Buscando Talento, hosted by Eugenio Derbez, one of several Yucatecan comedians to reach the later rounds of the show.
