About Jorge Muñiz
Comedy in Jorge Muñiz's career lives inside variety television rather than in a club set. He came to the screen from singing, taking part in the choruses of Armando Manzanero while still a boy, and his professional career was under way before he left his teens.
As a presenter he has carried daytime and late night programmes for Mexican television, among them Alegrías de Mediodía, Nuestra Casa and TV de Noche, where the laughs come from the host working a live room rather than from a written routine. The sitcom La escuelita VIP gave him a character named after his own nickname, Coque. Next to the television work sit his records of romantic song, including the Serenata albums.
