About La Kikis
La Kikis, born Karla León, is a Mexican stand-up comedian who began her career in 2012, when stand-up barely existed as a genre in Mexico, and has since become one of the country's most popular comedians. Openly gay, she built her routines around intelligent, sarcastic material about her sexuality, helping normalize LGBT experiences on Mexican comedy stages. She has taken part in touring stand-up programs and specials for Comedy Central and for the platform Distrito Comedia, performing at venues including the Teatro Wilberto Cantón and the Teatro del Hotel NH, and touring cities such as Guadalajara, Querétaro, Puebla, Pachuca and towns in Morelos. She was included by BuzzFeed among 23 LGBT people who are changing the country. Alongside stand-up, León has also worked as a commentator narrating Mexican football matches. She remains active on Instagram and other social platforms under the handle 'soylakikis,' continuing to tour clubs and theaters around Mexico with her stand-up sets.
