Jon Niklas Rønning
About Jon Niklas Rønning
Jon Niklas Rønning was on television before his teens, making his debut in 1991 in the NRK children's programme Midt i smørøyet. The partnership that shaped his comedy started in 1997, when he met Anders Bye at an audition for Nissenrevyen at Hartvig Nissens skole in Oslo. In 1999 the two launched their first radio programme, and Bye & Rønning grew into a double act lasting decades.
Television gave the duo plenty of room. In 2005 they made the six-part Bye & Rønning Show for NRK2 and had regular slots on Kjempesjansen, in 2007 came Hjemme hos Bye & Rønning, directed by Kim Strømstad, and in 2012 an NRK series under their own name, directed by Helge Lyngstad. Their stage work won Komiprisen twice: in 2006 for Bye & Rønning prøver keiserens nye klær, and in 2011 for Bye & Rønning redder verden, staged at Latter on Aker Brygge after the summer production Bye & Rønning redder sommeren at Apotekergaarden in Grimstad.
His parodies of Ole Paus became something of a trademark, and in 2017 he hosted the celebration of Paus's 70th birthday, broadcast on NRK1. On his own he performed the solo show Jeg reiser alene, appeared on Latter Live and hosted Rockheim Hall of Fame for NRK1. He also published the book Generasjon Facebook in 2009 and has released music alongside the comedy.
