Alaa Abu Diab

Alaa Abu Diab (Arabic: علاء أبو دياب) is a Palestinian stand-up comedian from Jerusalem. He performs primarily in Arabic and is known for storytelling built around social and political commentary, frequently contrasting everyday life in the Arabic-speaking world with that of the global north. His material draws on Palestinian experience and contemporary events, and he has described his approach as comedy with meaning rather than one-line jokes.

Abu Diab began his career in 2018, initially posting written thoughts and commentary on Facebook. A video responding to a sheikh's claim that the earth is flat went viral, and further videos reached wide audiences, leading him toward stand-up. He gave one of his first live performances at the Lund Comedy Festival in Sweden that same year.

He has performed internationally, with shows in cities including Ramallah, Amman, Beirut, Doha, London, Berlin, and Paris, many selling out. His specials include "On the Plane," "Lockdown," "Not White" (also styled "Mesh Abyad" / "Non-White"), and "Virtual Reality." After cancelling most performances following October 2023 due to the war in Gaza, he returned to the stage with sold-out shows in Dubai in January 2026.
