About El Tobi
El Tobi, whose real name is given in Peruvian media as Jean Carlo Manrique, is a Peruvian stand-up comedian, podcast host and content creator. He began posting comedy videos to YouTube in the early 2010s and has built an audience across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. He is best known for his live show "Eres Basura," in which audience members submit personal complaints that he turns into comic routines on stage, a format that had returned to Lima venues for a third run by 2023. His content also includes podcast-style conversations about weekly pop culture topics and stand-up material drawing on everyday Peruvian life. In August 2023 he drew wider media attention when a dispute with the airline Sky Peru over a delayed flight, during which he was removed from the aircraft by police, went viral on social media.
