Fernando Rocha (humorista)

Rocha worked as an electrician on building sites and then for the railway company CP, doing comedy in bars until the bars paid better than the job. Born in Rio Tinto in 1975, he won the TVI contest Ri-te, Ri-te in 1999, and the recording that followed, Portugal a Rir, turned a bar act from the north into a national one. More live albums and DVDs came after it.

The comedy is joke-based and deliberately blunt, working in territory Portuguese television was not in the habit of broadcasting. He appeared on the SIC humour programme Levanta-te E Ri, hosted the stand-up show Zumba Na B'jeka on Porto Canal, and later presented Nao ha Crise on SIC. He has taken his act to Portuguese-speaking audiences abroad, in Angola and in emigrant communities in the United States.

In 2017 he launched Pi100Pe on his own YouTube channel, a programme built on inviting other comedians to trade material, and ran it until 2024. He has acted as well, in the comedy Balas e Bolinhos: O Regresso and in the SIC telenovela Amor Amor.
