About Constantin Bojog
Costel, born Constantin Bojog on March 12, 1982 in Bacau, Romania, is a Romanian stand-up comedian, actor, and one of the founding figures of Romanian stand-up comedy. He moved to Bucharest to study engineering at Politehnica University before pivoting to theatre, ultimately graduating from the National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in 2004 - the same year he began performing stand-up at Cafe DeKo in Bucharest. Together with Claudiu Teohari (Teo) and Viorel Dragu (Vio), he helped build Romanian stand-up from an underground open-mic scene into a mainstream national phenomenon.
In 2006, Costel and his Cafe DeKo colleagues gained national attention when their stand-up routines were uploaded to YouTube and went viral across Romania. In 2009, he co-founded Club 99 at Bulevardul Dacia 99 in Bucharest - Romania's first dedicated stand-up comedy club. Over more than a decade of active YouTube publishing, Costel has released numerous stand-up specials on his official channel, including 'Pentru tata', 'Leit tata', 'Hai Ticuta!' (Comedy Store 2023), 'Sa mai treci pe la noi', and 'C***e, n-ai dinti?'. He has also performed at The Comedy Store in Manchester, UK. Beyond stand-up, Costel has an active acting career with film credits including '4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days' (Palme d'Or winner at Cannes 2007), 'Amintiri din epoca de aur', 'Bucharest Non Stop', and 'WebSiteStory'. He served as a jury member on the television talent shows 'Stand Up Revolution' and 'iUmor' on Antena 1, replacing Mihai Bendeac on the latter. He has also performed a TEDx talk at TEDxBaiaMare. Since 2016, Costel co-hosts the podcast 'Intre Showuri' with Teo and Vio, published on the 99entertainment YouTube channel with over 230 episodes recorded at Club 99. His comedy draws on family life, parenting, everyday situations, and self-deprecating observation.
