About Claudiu Mihail Teohari
Teo Teohari, full name Claudiu Mihail Teohari (born November 11, 1981) and known professionally as Teo, is a Romanian stand-up comedian, writer and occasional actor. After rising to fame in his native Romania as a household name in Bucharest's Deko Cafe, he was catapulted to internet fame by a series of YouTube recordings of his routines that went viral. As an actor, he made a cameo appearance in Dan Chisu's 2010 directorial debut, WebSiteStory. He currently lives in Bucharest with his wife, former Playboy playmate Melinda Kutasi.
Born in Bucharest in 1981, Teo grew up in the neighborhood of Titan. In highschool he played in a rock band, wrote for the school newspaper and traveled Europe with the George Cosbuc Highschool debate team, later crediting competitive debating with shaping his approach to writing and stand-up. He studied business management at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. He began considering stand-up in 2003 while working in retail and made his first public performance in early 2004 at Deko Cafe during an open mic night. Together with Costel Bojog and Viorel Dragu, he became an overnight sensation when, in 2006, he published some of their routines on YouTube; a bit dealing with Romanian profanity and gender roles received national coverage.
In 2009, Teo disassociated himself from Deko Cafe and, with Viorel Dragu and Costel Bojog, founded his own comedy club, Club 99, and opened Pablo Francisco's "Live and Kickin'" tour at a sold-out Sala Palatului. On television he hosted Dupa Bloguri on Realitatea TV in 2009 and, from late 2013, the successful YouTube series Nimic Nou. He released his first stand-up special on the video-on-demand service Voyo in 2013, appeared in two half-hour specials on Comedy Central Extra in 2015 and 2016, and in 2017 released his first solo full-length special as a free streaming video on YouTube.
