About Efim Shifrin
Efim Shifrin was born in Neksikan, a settlement in the Magadan region. After a year of philology at Latvian University he moved to the State University of Circus and Stage Art, where he studied under Roman Viktyuk, and while still a student he acted in productions at Moscow State University such as Goodbye, Boys! and Duck Hunting.
His first prizes came from contests for stage performers. He won the first Moscow contest in 1979 and the seventh contest for the whole of the USSR in 1983, and in 1985 he opened his first solo show, I Would Like to Say, based on the writing of Viktor Koklyushkin. In 1990 he founded his own company, the Shifrin-Theater, and has managed it since; its productions include The Dragon and Rumors.
His film roles include Marc Shyfer in Andrey Konchalovsky's Gloss. He has also written four books, among them The Theatre Named After Me and The World is a Small Place, and his awards include Raikin's Cup.
