About Tomas Hudak

Tomáš Hudák (born 7 October 1980 in Košice) is a Slovak stand-up comedian, screenwriter, presenter, lyricist and former journalist. Hudák first started as a journalist; already during his work at the daily SME he tried to establish himself as a humorist and political-satirical commentator. His web video show Svet Tomáša Hudáka (2007-2010) was the first internet satirical program in Slovakia. In 2009 he first stood before an audience as a comedian at the Nu Spirit klub in Bratislava at the stand-up comedy evening Silné reči, and has performed regularly under that brand ever since. He grew up in the village of Čaňa near Košice. From the age of eight he began to stutter, and although he managed to significantly suppress this speech defect, he still struggles with stuttering and it is also a frequent topic of his stand-up performances.

He studied journalism for two years at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (1999-2001) and theatre dramaturgy for three years (2001-2004) at the VŠMU in Bratislava in the class of Juraj Nvota. He began as a journalist at the newly created news portal Aktuálne.sk (September 2006 - February 2007), from where he transferred in 2007 to the daily SME, where he worked as a foreign affairs editor. In 2010 he went to the Markíza television. In November 2012, after Václav Mika was elected director of RTVS, he accepted an offer to work as editor of the evening Správy RTVS. In August 2016 he definitively left news and began to devote himself exclusively to stand-up comedy and screenwriting. In 2016 he married the visual artist and musician Broňa Schragge; they have one child and live in Bratislava.

He is known for his occasional musical collaboration with the rapper Ben, with whom he recorded songs such as "Vlastenecká" and "Fajn deň". With Matej Adámy, Samo Trnka and Juraj "Šok" Tabaček he founded the first roast comedy show in Slovakia under the name Na facku. He contributed as a screenwriter to television programs including Zlaté časy (RTVS), Heslo (TV JOJ), Topaplikácie (TV Markíza), Čau, Lujza! (TV JOJ) and Hit roka (RTVS). Since October 2022 he has prepared, together with Palo Tehlár, the podcast Off The Ice about the NHL. In 2023 he appeared in the film Invalid, and in November 2025 he made his literary debut at the publishing house Marenčin PT with the novel Amerikáni.
