About Naz Osmanoglu
Naz Osmanoglu (born 24 September 1985) is an Anglo-Turkish stand-up comedian and a member of the Imperial House of Osman, the former ruling dynasty of the Ottoman Empire; his father is an Ottoman imperial prince and his mother is English. He studied English literature at Durham University, graduating in 2008, where he formed the sketch trio WitTank with Mark Cooper-Jones and Kieran Boyd after the university's official comedy troupe turned them down at auditions. He won the 2009 Amused Moose Laugh Off and was runner-up in So You Think You're Funny the same year. WitTank appeared on the BBC Three series Live at the Electric, and Osmanoglu has also appeared on Russell Howard's Good News. As a solo stand-up he performed the Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows 1000% Awesome (2011) and Ottoman Without an Empire (2012), the latter drawing on his Ottoman heritage and themes of entitlement and displacement. He has been described in the Turkish press as an Ottoman prince bringing comedy back to Istanbul, the former seat of his family's empire.
