About Tom Davis

Born in Croydon, Tom Davis put up scaffolding and worked a market stall before comedy became a living. He came through as a stand-up while picking up writing work on the side: a piece called The Warm-Up Guy for Comedy Lab, then co-written episodes of Live at the Electric.

The show that made his name was Murder in Successville on BBC Three, which he co-created and wrote for as well as playing DI Sleet, and in 2016 BAFTA named him a Breakthrough Brit. He followed it with King Gary, a BBC sitcom he co-created and co-wrote, with himself in the title role of Gary King. Supporting parts filled the gaps: Davus in Plebs, assorted characters in The Keith Lemon Sketch Show and the court bailiff in Judge Romesh. Judge Romesh was not the end of his work with its host: in 2020 he and Romesh Ranganathan started Wolf and Owl, the podcast the two of them host together.
