Adam DeVine

Adam DeVine (born 7 November 1983) is an American comedian, actor, producer and screenwriter. He is one of the stars and co-creators of the Comedy Central television series Workaholics and Adam DeVine's House Party. He played the role of Bumper in the musical films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 and the television series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, had recurring sitcom roles as Andy Bailey in Modern Family and Adam DeMamp in Workaholics, and from 2019 to 2025 starred as Kelvin Gemstone in the HBO comedy series The Righteous Gemstones.

DeVine was born in Waterloo, Iowa, raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from Millard South High School in 2002 before attending Orange Coast College. In 1995, when he was 11, he was struck by a 42-ton cement truck while walking his bicycle across a road; all the bones in both of his legs were broken and he fell into a coma, undergoing 26 surgeries over the following years. He later said the experience helped him realize that anything is possible, and that telling jokes became a way to deflect attention and bring people together.

In 2006, DeVine and friends Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck formed the sketch-comedy group Mail Order Comedy, finding success on MySpace and YouTube. Comedy Central's Workaholics premiered on 6 April 2011, with the four serving as series creators and executive producers. He co-starred as Bumper in Pitch Perfect (2012), for which he won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Villain, and reprised the role in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). His other film roles include The Intern, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and The Out-Laws, and he has voiced characters in films such as Ice Age: Collision Course and The Lego Batman Movie.
