About Andy Gross
Andy Gross came to entertainment from professional sport. He turned pro in racquetball at 15, the youngest player the game had seen, and left it at 26 after a long run of wins in Southern California tournaments. The act he put together afterwards joins trades that rarely share one stage: stand-up jokes, ventriloquism and magic.
Since 2000 he has toured the United States with the MindBoggling Variety Show, which sets his puppets and patter against large-scale illusions. A regular in the act is Steve, The Customer Service Guy, a soft puppet who talks callers through computer repairs over the phone. In 2013 he made a video of his Split Man trick, a reworking of the classic cut-in-half illusion.
Television has used his ventriloquism in scripted series, among them Beverly Hills, 90210 and Las Vegas, and he has appeared as a guest on The Jenny Jones Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Away from the stage he designs toys and magic tricks, work that has earned him a Top 10 Duracell Kids Choice Award.
