About Bianca Del Rio
Before Bianca Del Rio there was Roy Haylock, a New Orleans costume designer who started in the trade as a teenager, won a Big Easy Entertainment Award in 1993 for the costumes of Snow Queen and went on to design for the New Orleans Opera. The drag character arrived in 1996, after an appearance in the play Pageant, and won the New Orleans Gay Entertainer of the Year title three years in a row.
The sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, won in 2014 without a single lip sync, turned the act into a touring stand-up career, and the tour names give a fair idea of the tone: The Rolodex of Hate, Not Today Satan, Blame It On Bianca Del Rio, It's Jester Joke, Unsanitized and Dead Inside. The Rolodex of Hate also became a special on Logo TV. On screen she led Hurricane Bianca and its sequel From Russia with Hate; in print she published Blame It On Bianca Del Rio: The Expert On Nothing With An Opinion On Everything; and in the West End she played in Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre in London. She has also hosted the web series The Pit Stop.
